Clubhouse: is it here to stay?

The Clubhouse became a sensation around the world. Recently, everyone is talking about it.

Elon Musk tweeted on January 31th that he would participate in the platform. As a result, the app went viral. Basically everything he talks about on Twitter goes viral. Who agrees? On this occasion Musk interviewed robinhood’s CEO about the investment platform’s decisions surrounding gamestop’s frenzy.

You probably have seen about that roll of short squeeze that happened in EA. Result of the union ofReddit participants who came together to buy GameStop shares.

Going back to the app, to get a feel for Musk’s impact on the app:

1 million downloads in 2020 and 5 million downloads in 2021.

Below, the platform metrics until 19/01/21:

And right after Musk, to everyone’s surprise, even Zuck23 showed up there, to talk about how VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) will be used for remote work in facebook’s Reality Labs group.

But we know why, right? According to the New York Times, Facebook is building a new audio chat product similar to the Clubhouse app. In other words, they’re going to copy the idea of the Clubhouse.

Active users so far

To date, the platform has 6 million downloads, compared to the chart above, is too much downloads for a short period of time. This way, I’m going to talk about Musk and his “Midas tweet”

What is the Clubhouse app?

Clubhouse is a guest-only audio chat social networking app, officially launched in April 2020. On January 21 2021, it was valued at a billion dollars! Amazing. but it is far from having all people aboard, for two great reasons, for being only by invitation and being limited only to IOS. After you win the invitation, you only have just 2 invitations to share.

The app recently confirmed that it raised funds in a funding round. Based on this, they’re developing a way to pay the creators of the platform. will soon be tested. Whether through tips, tickets or subscriptions, according to the startup’s blog post.

Currently, Clubhouse is the 5º most popular app in the App Store Social Media Network category, behind only Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Discord.

Join the Club!

Clubhouse isn’t the only voice app yet. Even twitter has already started at the end of last year to test on its platform, as I mentioned in my stories today. In Brazil users with IOS are having access to this functionality. And of course, another copy of Zuck is coming. Wait!!!

Clubhouse’s here to stay?

Definitely a lot of water will still roll and we will know if after the app is open to everyone, if it will show that it is here to stay. So far, this new way of communicating and networking is being very addictive.
